QBall Arrives!

Postby QBall » Thu Jul 01, 2010 4:46 am

Hi All,
As a member of several websites, UK Authors, Bibliophilia, The Right Eyed Deer, Bewildering Stories and others, I discovered your site and seeing so many people are with you, I opted to inflict upon you the raving ideas of mine that are tolerated by others out of sympathy.
Who am I? Brief Bio.
The name is L. Roger Quilter and I am rapidly approaching my eightieth birthday (September), but I act like an eight year old!
I am published in two anthologies, Bewrite Books, The Creature in the Rose, 1018 Press, Black Sails, one story in a Scottish paper and six or seven western stories on Rope & Wire.
Born in London, England, I have survived WW2 as an inquisitive schoolboy, National Service with the Rifle Brigade in West Germany, twenty-two years in the Royal Canadian Navy and fifty-nine years of wedded bliss (I am told!)
Two children, four grandchildren and three and a half great grandchildren Other half due in November!)
My writing pprojects are a humourous slant on history, a naval story where the salty language required fot truthfullness worries me and an auto biography.
We have lived in Canada since 1954 in Victoria, Canada's We(s)t Coast as I call it.
I write better if I follow a challenge, so challenge me!
Look forward to members acceptance or rejection. Nothing shocks me - a play on words as I am a retired electrician!
Cheers,
QBall.

Hello and welcome. :) Thanks for introducting yourself. I've now let you in.

Thanks! Before I commence my ramblings, I must check out the site to get a feel of what is acceptable. Funny, but I always have trouble with bad language and that is strange after years of service in the navy! In most cases swearing is not really necessary, IMHO. Writers who use swearwords out of dialogue are grabbing attention for shock value.
When I was young a cuss word used to mean something, now it sounds tiresome.
I'm rambling already.
Smile! Make people wonder what you are doing!

Delighted to have somebody around who will talk. :D Lately, we seem not to have had as much conversation as there used to be, which is a pity. Look forward to seeing you on the threads.

As it says in the rules, please don't use swear-words in the conversation forums (Anything About Anything and Anything About Writing), or in reviews of work, then, if you need some swearing in a piece of writing you're putting up for others to read, give a warning along with the title.

Hi, Qball. Delighted to make your acquaintance. That's a very full and interesting bio you have posted.

I was in Victoria a couple of years ago, visiting for a wedding, and yup it was wet! Pitty, because it reall is very scenic.

Hope to chat often.

Oh by the way, Qball. I notice you have joined the First Two Paragraph group. I belong to that group too - why not pop in and say hello to the fellahs there. It's a very friendly group and we'd be delighted to hear from you.
