Full Details, Terms
and Conditions
- short stories are accepted on any subject, from a minimum of 1500 words to a maximum of 5000 words
- prizes of £100.00, £50.00, £25.00 will be awarded to the best three stories
- entry fee is £5.00 per story and must be made using the competition entry form on www.writersdock.org. This page gives details of how a payment by cheque can be made
- entrants do not have to be members of Writers’ Dock to enter the competition
- entrants are entitled to a free twelve week gold membership trial subscription on entering the competition. This can be applied for at the time of entry. (Usual terms and conditions apply.)
- entrants’ names should not appear on the entry
- entrants details must be entered in the entry form, along with the title of the story submitted
- entries should carry the title and page number on each sheet
- entries must be typed in 12 point Ariel, Courier or Times New Roman font and attached in .doc, .txt, .pdf or .rtf format when registering
- entries must not be previously published. (Stories reviewed on Writers’ Dock or similar forums are not considered published)
- prize-winning entries of other Writers' Dock competitions may not be entered
- prize winners, give permission for stories to be reproduced on Writers' Dock's website, Writers' Dock's "Anchor Magazine" or in a subsequent Writers’ Dock anthology. The author retains copyright
- competitors may not win more than one prize
- competition organisers reserve the right to substitute a prize for another prize of the same value or greater
- closing date to receive entries by is 23.59hrs 30th November 2008
- results will be announced on the Writers' Dock website by 28th February 2009
- critiques of entered stories can be obtained at a further fee of £4.00 per story. Payment for critiques should be made at time of entry using the facilities provided. Critiques are produced by a panel of published authors after the competition judging is complete and will be sent out by 29th March 2009
- all involved in organising and running the competition and their family members may not enter
- the judges' decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into.
